One of my companions received her visa and left a week and a half ago and is in Arizona. She was excited to finally be able to move to her mission.

The work is great. we are working with this family that smokes. they are struggling. but we decided that we are going to get them married to help them see that they can complete goals in their lives... i am excited to see what happens!! they are going to get married on the 28th.

We did have had some letdowns in this past week but... attitude is everything.  We jus keep working hard and I know things will work for the best.

Onc lesson I’ve learned on my mission is that we have to choose to strengthen our testimony every day! seriously. because if we don’t choose to make it bigger... it just will automatically get smaller. a testimony can’t stay in one place. it will either get smaller or bigger. the choice is ours.

Love you all...

Conference

All,

Conference was amazing. I loved it! It really helped me. Man... I love conference so much. with all my heart. I wish it was every weekend...

My comps are awesome. It is scourging hot here but I am so happy! We are working hard and seeing miracles. Hermana Pineda has 8 months on the mission and is from Mexico and Hermana Escobar has like a week on the mission and is from Guatemala. She is really going to Arizona on her mission, just waiting for the visa. This area is gold. The people are awesome. They are really receptive and I am so excited to help them. The members love us... There has never been hermanas here. We are the only hermanas in the zone…

Wow

Well! This last week was crazy. On Wednesday I went back to San Lucas Toliman to do divisions. It was like the best and worst day ever. Because I got to see everyone that I love so much but it was the worst because I had to say goodbye again!! Man. I love those people so much. It was an adventure. I love San Lucas Toliman and I am so happy that I was able to serve there for 5 months and return again.

Also... I had changes!! I am now in Hunapu Escuintla. I am opening the area with two other hermanas... One just left the MTC and the other has like 8 months on the mission. Hermana Escobar and Hermana Pineda!! We are in an area that is super hot!! wow. I am like dying of heat but I am so happy!! I love it here. It is amazing! The people are so nice and really receptive. I know that we are going to see miracles here! Man. I love the mission!

Love you all and hope you have a good conference weekend! Learn lots!

Spring

All,

We had a cool experience with an investigator. Two weeks ago we found him. His wife is a member and they were going to church a year ago every Sunday. He is awesome. Seriously. He couldn't get baptized because he had to wait a while because of some of his past. He completed the goals and everything that the president made with him but then the new president came and set more time and more goals. He kept trying but got discouraged. I believe that now this is his time. We just have to get some things worked out with the church offices and send a letter to the first presidency. It was a miracle because all of a sudden president Markham was at our church on Sunday so we had them talk together and i am so happy for him because i think that this is his time to be able to be baptized and clean up his past.

love ya!

New Companion

All,

It is going good here. my new comp is Hermana Ziga from Mexico. She is really cool and we get along really well. I have really lucked out on the mission because I have gotten along really well with all my comps. I love all of them a whole lot! I am nervous because I think I will stay here another 6 weeks and then finish the mission in a new area.

We just continue to work hard and rely on the Lord to help us overcome the challenges we face.

Love you all.

buenas tardes

Something crazy that's been happening is a few of the days this last week we had some strong temblores. Un temblor is like a mini earthquake. At 10 one night there was a pretty strong one. And another night, well maybe at like 3 in the morning, we were fast asleep and our beds started shaking. It actually woke ME up. Those who don't know me.. nothing wakes me up. But everything was shaking pretty hard and it was way cool!! like for 30 seconds or so. That is pretty long for a temblor. I love Guatemala!! so cool!!

So that family that Jose brought to church is so AWESOME. They came to church again and they are totally going to get baptized. They just have to get married first. I know we will see this miracle this month.
We had a cool experience this last week. Elder Duncan, the area president from the 70 talked to us. I love that we can all receive our personal revelation as we listen to the servants of God. I received some revelation about how I can become a better missionary and I'm striving to apply it to become a better instrument in Gods hands. Something else that I was reminded of is explained in one of my favorite quotes. President Gordon B Hinckley said, "Quiere ser feliz? OlvĂdese a si mismo y pierdese en esta gran causa." In english... "Do you want to be happy? Forget yourself and get lost in this great cause." Well I am pretty happy so I guess I have gotten myself pretty lost here in Guatemala. But I received some revelation on how I can lose myself even more in this great work.

I also spoke for the first time in this ward. I talked about Charity. A quote that I love from President Monson says, "La verdadera caridad es el amor en accion." It translates to something like... " True charity is love in action." We are here to love like Christ loves!! To serve like Christ serves. So WE NEED TO DO IT.

have a good week!! les amo a todos.

This week was CALIDAD

this week was literally awesome.

Gloria got baptized. It was such an amazing miracle. I am so happy for her and I know that this gospel will keeping changing her life.

Also our convert, Jose, that got baptized in January, invited his friend to church. It was a young couple with a 6 year old daughter. And they came to church. What an amazing miracle!! Seriously. It reminds me of Alma. After his great change of heart and experience with the Atonement, what did he do? Alma 36:24. If we really experience this joy... What should we do??? SHARE THIS JOY WITH OTHERS... Share the gospel. What a great example is Jose.

I have been thinking a lot lately about the worth of souls. I love the scripture D&C 18:10. How does God see us?? I love this quote from President Uchtdorf. He said, "You are loved. You are dear to your Heavenly Parents. The infinite and eternal Creator of light and life knows you! He is mindful of you. Yes, God loves you this very day and always. He is not waiting to love you until you have overcome your weaknesses and bad habits. He loves you today with a full understanding of your struggles. He is aware that you reach up to Him in heartfelt and hopeful prayers. He knows of the times you have held on to the fading light and believed, even in the midst of darkness. He knows of your suffering. He knows of your remorse for the times you have fallen short or failed. And he still loves you. And god knows of your successes though they may seem small to you. He acknowledges and chericshes each one of them. He loves you for reaching out and helping others beart heir heavy burdens, even when you are struggling with your own. He knows everything about you. He see your clearly, he knows you asyou really are. And He loves you, today and always!!" I love this quote. I was thinking, If God feels this way about us and se3es us in this way, how should we see and feel about others?? We should see everyone as God sees us and them. We should focus on their potential. Our potential. This is the way we can become like Him. Trust me, it is easier said than done, but we can do it. We can see people in this way. All people. Everyday we should change little things to be able to see others as He sees them.

Love you all!! have a good week!!

woohooo!!

I really love the mission. It doesnt get better than this. Sometimes it hits me suddenly that I am a missionary. That i am literally a missionary. I love it. It is the best feeling ever.

We have some positive people that will be baptized this month. On Thursday two of our investigators will get baptized. Esteffany and Erick. Man. I love them so much. Seriously. I never thought I could love people so much. Esteffany is 15. She just had a baby. Se has wanted to get baptized for while but didn't want to risk it pregnant. Her family has some cultural beliefs that are kind of different, but we've got to respect and understand those. She has almost finished the Book of Mormon. she started reading in october. She is so amazing!! Eric is her boyfriend. The coolest thing with him is that he was not interested in the gospel at all a month ago so we didn't really teach him. Esteffanys brother is a convert that got baptized in October and he gave a family home evening one monday night, when eric was there, about the temple and family history work. This convert Luis is AWESOME. Well turns out that the spirit of Elijah touched Erics heart in that family home evening and he is now so excited to be able to do the work for some of his family members that have passed on. So amazing.

I seriously love this time here on the mission. I cant imagine what my life would have been without the experiences I have had, am having, and will have on the mission. The mission is what I needed to be able to apply the Atonement more fully in my life in order to be able to change. I am not even close to perfect, but i have improved so many things that i needed to change and improve. Through Christ. I testify of my Savior. He helps us. He carries us. He lifts us. He comforts us. He motivates us. He encourages us. He heals us. He forgives us. He saves us. He understands us. He knows us. HE LOVES US. I am forever grateful for the privilege I have to testify of Him everyday and I will never go a day without testifying of my Savior.

I love you all!! have a good week!

Temple Visit

All,

This week we were able to attend the temple.  It was awesome being back inside the temple.  It is such a blessing to be able to serve there.

During The month of January, we were able to teach 180 lessons. That is a ton. Super crazy!!! We teach all day every day and are loving working with the people. I know we are going to see some miracles this month.

The Work is Good

All,

This week I got really sick.  The Bishop in my ward gave me a blessing and in it he said... your family and parents are praying for you, and God hears and answers the prayers of parents.  I believe it. I know it is true. Thank you for helping me. Thank you for praying for me.

The work is good. A little bit stressful but good. I love it. Divisions have changed a lot but they are good. Now the sisters only come to our area and work here. Because of this I believe we are going to see more success because we are not going to be out of the area very much.

We found out today that leaders are going to stop being leaders when they only have 2 transfers left and are going to train. My companion after this change will train and then after one more change I will train. The apostles and general mission comittee are changing so much to hasten the work. We believe in  revelation and just follow it even if we don't really understand or comprehend why.

I love you all...  Have a good week!!

Another Good Week

Hey!! this week we saw miracles.

On Sunday Hermano Jose got baptized. It was so amazing because we found him as we were knocking doors. In the first visit we challened him to get baptized on January 10th. And he got baptized on January 10th. I love seeing people change their lives through Jesus Christ and His gospel. The mission is the best!!

My companion and I really get along and are enjoying the work. We are focusing on giving God our all here in the mission. Sometimes hard things happen, but I have never been so happy. Even when people reject us super rudely and say rude things to us it doesnt even matter. Because we are not ashamed of our Savior Jesus Christ. We represent Him. I have never been so happy in my life. As I testify of my Savior everyday, I feel joy that i have never felt before.

heyyyy.

Happy New Year!! What did you guys do?? I slept!!

We have an awesome investigator named Jose. He is 70 and is a widower ( not sure if that is the right word. his wife died?) We found him knocking doors like 3 weeks ago and the first Sunday after our first visit, he went to church. He is a miracle. So willing to do what God wants him to do!! He is so special and will get baptized this week!!

Also I had a cool experience. We were looking for a family we had talked to in the street. We hiked up a whole street that was literally like a mountain because the direction was at the top. We found their house and they didnt answer. We decided to knock two more doors at the very top. No one answered. There was a little pathway that led up into the mountains. Just like a hiking trail. You couldnt see anything, just trees. I said to my companion... "I feel like there is a house up there" and she said "no! hahaha. The people are going to think we are going to rob them" because their was a huge house next to the path that we had already knocked at. But I felt like there was house. So I started hiking. And my comp followed. Well turns out there was a house. And we knocked and dogs came running out to attack us. Then a man left the house to come talk to us. He was the man from the family we had contacted and were looking for in the first place.

The spirit guides us. We have to be ready and willing to listen. 1 Nephi 4: 6-7. always listen to the spirit. Act on the impressions that you receive from the spirit.

I love you all!!

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!

merry christmas everyone!!

we had a good week this week. on thursday there were some girls from utah here volunteering in a daycare. they are members and they saw us in the street and said.. sisters!! so we talked to them and invited them to do some visits with us. We split up and the two i went with were so amazing!! they didnt speak spanish but they shared there testimonies in english with an investigator and the spirit was so strong. It was just evidence that the Spirit speaks every language. It was a good day!

Saturday we did a service project as a zone. We painted a school. It was really fun. Service is always fun!! Look for ways to serve. I promise that if we arent focused on ourselves we will always be happy!!!

I have been seeing a lot of Catholic traditions in these days. Lots of posadas. They walk in the street carrying statues of the virgin Maria and other things. It is interesting and cool to see the culture. But then after we just want to teach them the restored gospel! haha. But it is interesting. Other peoples beliefs and culture. I have always loved and will always love learning about it.

Have an amazing Christmas!! remember the reason for the season and that wise men still seek him!!

la navidad viene ya.

hey!!! this is a month of miracles. Seriously. We had a baptism on Sunday. His name is Victor Manuel Efrain. He is 15 and is so awesome!! He has had such a hard life but decided to get baptized. I could just see the light of Christ shining through him at his baptism. He was so happy. So happy. I love seeing the changes people make in their lives and how it changes them forever.

I cant believe Christmas is so soon. Make it a good Christmas! Focus on Jesus Christ and how we can come closer to him in the year 2016. Start thinking of goals now and this next year will be the best one yet. I cant believe that I left to come on my mission almost a year ago. It seems like yesterday!! I love the mission with all my heart. If you are contemplating on going on a mission or not... GO. It is the most beautiful wonderful experience you will ever have in your life. But it flies by. I am making every moment of the time I have left here.

i love you all!!

Woo Hoo

Christmas is so soon!! This is the time to remember Christ and decide to change. Decide to change through him and his atonement and become better. I want to share a poem that I found in a liahona that I love!! About Christ and His Atonement.

HIS PERFECT ATONEMENT.
I used to believe
That there was a hole
In Christs Atonement
That He could save everyone
Except me.

But i was wrong.
There is not one hole,
But seven.

Two holes in
His Hands
Where they nailed Him
To a cross
At the behest of those
He would die
To save,

Two holes in
His wrists
Where they ensured
The weight of His body
Would not cause
His hands
To rip through.
Before His penance
Was complete,

Two holes in
His feet
Where He stood
As a witness to all
Of God´s unyielding love
For each
Of His children,

And on hole in
His side
Where they pierced Him
To prove His work
Was done.

Seven.
Perfection.
Seven perfect holes
In earth´s only
Perfect Man.

The perfect Atonement
To patch the holes in our lives.
His holes make us
Whole.

I was wrong.
There is a
Whole
In Christ´s Atonement
For me
After all.

Chirst knows us. And loves us. He will always always help us and heal us and make us whole. I know that He lives. That through him we can become whole. But we have to decide to make His Atonement personal. Is the Atonement personal for you? If not, what do you have to do to make it personal?

I love you all!! Have a good week!!

December???

wow!! cant believe it is already december. Christmas!! i am excited to spend Christmas here in Guatemala. It will be fun to see what they do here .I have heard that they do some pretty different things!!

This week we had a miracle. A few weeks ago we found a really positive new investigator and this past saturday we finally found him to have a second visit but this time his wife was there. So shared with them both and they are so positive! They both accepted the baptismal challenge and the wife accepted to go to church with us the next day. We were so happy!! the husband couldnt because he had to go work in another city. So we called her on Sunday morning to go to church with her and she was ready to go! and she went! it was a miracle because people always say they are going to go and then they dont. But she went and stayed all three hours. with her son. They both loved being in church and learning!! It was amazing. Also a teenager that is preparing to get baptized came for the second time! and i know we saw these miracles because we made a goal with my companion that has to do with fasting. and we started this last week. fasting is amazing. i know that we can see miracles in our lives and the lives of others if we fast with faith and with a purpose.

Christmas season is here and we are all thinking about receiving gifts but more importantly giving. today my mission president said something that really stuck out to me. he said that the only thing that we can give to God is our will. Everything else we have is already his. Our will is the only thing we can give him. So... How will you give your will to God this Christmas season? What will you do to make your own will, His will??

I love you all so much!! I hope that you all have an amazing week!!

Happy Thanksgiving

Hermana Kap is so awesome I miss her so much, it was one of the hardest things ever to see her go home but I am happy she is with her family after 18 months of being gone. Hermana Kap and I sang in Zone conference  and then also in change meeting. it was scary but I realized that we need to be grateful for and share the talents that God has given us even when we feel inadequate. So I went ahead and sang and it ended up a really pretty song we put together.

My new companion is Hermana Guevara, she is from Mexico. We are teaching a few people here but are rejected all the time in this area of Guatemala. The area I am serving in right now is a more wealthy part of Guatemala. We just try to have fun and see the positive even though it is difficult and frustrating at times. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. We have so much to be grateful for.

The Zoo!!!!

hey family and friends.

last tuesday we went to the zoo. It was fun to see all the animals. it was actually a pretty nice zoo. My favorite animal was like a blank panther thing. It was super cool!!

This week has been good! We have been working hard and trying to get investigators to go to church. They promise us they are going to go and then they bail at the last minute. It is so frustrating sometimes. Some days on the mission are just hard. Some days in life are just hard. But we just need to keep going and trying!! I want to share this poem with all of you that is called The Race.

"Quit! Give up! You´re beaten!"
They shout at me and plead.
There´s just too much against you now.
This time you can't succeed!

And as I start to hang my head
in front of failures face
My downward fall is broken by
The memory of the race.

And hope refills my weakened will
As I recall that scene
For just the thought of that short race
Rejuvenates my being.

A childrens race, young boys, young men
How I ermeber well.
Excitement, sure! But also fear.
It wasnt hard to tell.

They all ined up so full of hope
Each thought to wint he race.
Or tie for first, or it not that
At least take second place.

and fathers watched from off the side,
each cheering for his son.
and each boy hoped to show his dad
that he would be the one.

the whistle blew and off they went
young hearts and hopes a fire
to win and be the hero there
was each young boy{s desire.

and one boy in particular
whose dad was in the crowd
was running near the lead and thought,
my dad will be so proud!

But as they speeded down the field
across a shallow dip.
the little boy, who thought to win,
lost his step and slipped.

trying hard to catch himself
his hands flew out to brace
and, mid the laughter of the crowd,
her fell flat on his face

so down he fell, and with im hope
he couldnt win it now
embarrassed, sad, he only wished
to disappear somehow.

but as he fell, his dad stood up
and showed his anxious face
that to the boy so clearly said
get up win the race!

he quickly rose, no damage done
behinda  bit, thats all
and ran with all his mind and might
to make up for his fall

soanxious to restore himself
to catch up and win
his mind went faster than his legs
he slipped and fell again.

he wished that he had quit before
with only one disgrace
im hopeless as a runner, now.
i shouldnt try to race.

so up he jumped to try again
ten yards behind the last
if im to gain those yards, he thought,
ive got to more real fast

exerting everything he had,
he regained eight of ten
but trying hard to catch the lead
he slipped and fell again.

defeated! he lay there silently
a tear dropped from his eye
theres no sense running anymore
three strikes, im out. Why try?

the will to rise had disappeared
all hope had flown away
so far behind, so error prone
a loser all the ay

ive lost, so what the use, he thought
ill live with my disgrace
but then he thought abot his dad
whom soon hed have to face

get up, an echo sounded low
get up and take your place.
you were not meant for failure here,
get up and win the race.

with borrowed will, get up, it said.
you havent lost at all
for winning is no more tahn this
to rise each time you fall

so up he rose to run once more
and, with anew commit,
he resolved that win or lose
at least he wouldnt quit.

so far behind the others now
the most hed ever been
still he gave it all he had
he ran as though to win.

three times hed fallen, stumbling,
threee times he rose again.
too far behind to hope to win,
he still ran to the end.

they cheered the winning runner
as he crossed the line first place
head high, and proud, and happy
no falling, no disgrace.

but when the fallen youngster
crossed the line last place,
the crowd gave him the greater cheer
for finishing the race

and even though he came in last
with head bowed low, unproud,
you would have thought he wont he race
to listen to the crowd.

and to his dad he sadly said
i didnt do so well
to me, you won, the father said
you rose each time you fell

and now when things seem dark and hard
and difficult to face
the memory of that little boy
helps me in my race

for all of life i like that race
with ups and downs and all
and all you have to do to win
is rise each time you fall.

quit! give up! you're beaten!
they still shout in my face
but another voice within me says
Get up and win the race!!

I love this poem. Things get hard. We fall. But we must always get up and keep going!! Everytime we have to get up! but the good thing is that we have a loving Savior, who is always there with his hand extended, ready to help us get up and keep going.

i love you all so much! keep on going and keep on trying! Get up and win the race!
