Heyyy

Buenas Tardes! I hope all is well. Here in San Lucas Toliman we are working!

We have been working with a family, the familiy Ajanel, that the parents were baptized like 3 years ago and the daughters are recent converts. They are so awesome! But they still havent been to the temple to be sealed. They have their problems as a family and in the beginning when we were talking about going to the temple they were like.. no. But yesterday we were teaching them and they Hermano Ajanel said that he had been looking up things about the temple on mormon.org. Like videos and stuff. And as a branch they have a temple trip in september. We challenged them to prepare to go to the temple on that date and they said that they were going to prepare. And they were excited! It was such a happy thing to hear and see that they are going to prepare and are excited to do it now. We are going to keep working with them.

I gave a talk on Sunday about the family. I talked mostly about The Family a proclamation to the world. As I read it I was so happy to talk about it. Read the proclamation as a family. Read it and study it and see what you can do to better your family. I love the paragraph 7. We have to build our home and family on the gospel of Jesus Christ. If we do that we are going to be happy, individually and as a family! As I talked I was overwhelmed with gratitude and love for my own family and my parents. For all that they have taught me and continue to teach me! I know that families are eternal. That if we live correctly in this life, we will live with our families forever. We have to love and support our families. We have to help them understand the importance of the gospel and help them live it as well so that they can be happy in this life and so that we can be with them forever. That is one reason we have families. To love and support one another in the journey back to our Heavenly Father! There are so many things in the world destroying families. I have seen so much of this on my mission. We have to protect and defend our families. They are central in the plan of God. A lot of missionaries say that the goal is baptism... but really the goal should always be the temple. Sealing families together forever. And then helping them and supporting them to live their covenants.

I love you all so much and hope you have a good week!!

New Area

My transfer has been little hard. it was really difficult to leave people that I love, just like it was hard to leave home.  It was like leaving my other home... I never thought that I could love so many people so much. haahah.  My new area is good. It is hard to change but that's just how the mission is and I love the people here already. It makes me scared to think that I am going to have to say goodbye to them as well... haha. but i am so happy and grateful that I am able to be here meeting all these wonderful people.

The branch is small and still learning how to do everything.  On Sunday I was just sitting in sacrament meeting and the people were talking and afterwards the Branch President got up and said now we will hear some words from the Hermana Dibb. Hahahaha. No one told me before that I had to go up and talk. So I just had to wing it. But that happens a lot on the mission. It is always a little scary at first! But now I am not as scared to talk in front of people.

Geographically, this new area is the complete opposite of La Gomera.  It's not as hot.  There are a few volcanoes here but they dont erupt. They can erupt but they haven't erupted since I've been here. I literally live in the mountains usted. It is so crazy but it is beautiful. We have to walk and climb hills everyday that are crazy steep and it is so cool.

Have a wonderful week.

Love,

Hermana Dibb

In the Clouds

welp. I am not in La Gomera. We had emergency changes two days after changes. Oh man... It was probably the hardest thing ever. I said goodbye to so many people that I have grown to love with all my heart. We all cried and it was super hard to say goodbye to everyone and Hermana Martinez as well.

But something I have learned from this week is how important it is to accept the will of God. And not just accept it... but to align my will with His will, have faith and trust in it, and be happy. This can be hard at times. But it is something that we should all strive to do.

Now I am in San Lucas Toliman. In the mountains. Not just by the mountains. Literally in the mountains. Our area from one side to the other in a bus is probably about 3 hours in bus. There is a central part but then all throughout the mountains there are little towns with just a few houses. It is so different in everyway than La Gomera.... hahah... my surroundings, the weather, the climate, the people, and the language. Yes. They all speak a native dialect. Some can kind of speak spanish and some dont know spanish at all. For real. It is so different. But I love it. I love the people. And I love my companion as well. Her name is Hermana Miranda and she is from El Salvador. This is her last cambio in the mission. She is super awesome and I am learning a ton from her.

We travel in buses. big ones and small ones. But we also travel in something called a flete. It is a pick up truck and we all stand in the back of it. There are bars to hang on to. It is like a roller coaster ride because they drive like crazy here in Guatemala. It is super cool. And literally... This place is beautiful. We are pretty high up in altitude because sometimes we drive through the clouds. Sometimes I cant believe how beautiful it is.

I love you all so much and hope you have a good week!

Hay Cambios

Buenas Tardes!

So... I am staying in La Gomera for another 6 weeks with Hermana Martinez. And... someone else! We are going to have another companion. A trio. Wooohooo! We will go to Cambios tomorrow to see who she is. But... It will be interesting to work in a trio.... By the end of this next change I will have 6 months in La Gomera... hahaha. That is a long time in one area! But I love La Gomera.

We had a miracle this week. We found a kid named Daniel and he is 16. He is super awesome. We found him like a few weeks ago. He had assisted church a few times and we thought he was a member... but someone told us that he wasnt so we talked to him and went to visit him. We challenged him to be baptized June 6 and he said he was going to pray about it. The next time we visited him he told us that June 6 was the right date and that he had received an answer and wanted to get baptized on June 6. This happened like last week. And then on June 6 it was raining like crazy and the power and lights went off in the church so we didnt have water to fill the pila. But we knew that we had to do everything we could so that he could be baptized on that date, because he had prayed with that date and received an answer. We ended up going to Sipacte and he was baptized there. It was super crazy the whole journey and problem solving but the baptism was so great. The spirit was so strong. He really was so prepared by God and is super awesome!

His little sister also wants to get baptized. She always wants to assist church with us. She is 12. She is going to get baptized the other wednesday. She is so sweet and so excited! She loves the gospel and accepts everything. She reads in her book of mormon and prays and assists church. It is so amazing to see the changes that people are willing to make in their lives when they hear and accept and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I love you all and hope you have a good week!

Love,
Hermana Dibb

Miracles

This week we seriously saw miracles!

We have an investigator named Merklin and he is 11. He is super awesome and understands everything. Long story short... His dad is a member and his mom left his dad for another man and took all the kids. But later returned and just left merklin here with his dad. We started teaching him a while ago and he was going to get baptized last week. But he said he wanted to wait for his mom to return to come to his baptism. So we said that is was okay and we were going to wait until the 31 of May. But we called his mom and she just made up a bunch of excuses to why she couldnt come. It was super sad. We told him and he said that he wasnt going to get baptized then. We didnt know what to do or what to say. We had a feeling to call the branch president to come have a lesson on Saturday night with us. During the lesson the Branch president said.. Can I speak with him a lone for a few minutes. And we said yes and left the house and the dad left as well. After we entered Merklin was smiling and said.. I am going to get baptized tomorrow. It was so crazy! We have no idea what the branch president said but it was so amazing to see the power that the spirit has and the power of revelation that he received. The spirit was so strong after this and Merklin was baptized on Sunday!!

I love the mission. I love Guatemala and I love La Gomera. We have cambios the next week but we will see what happens.. Ahhh. It scares me to think that I might leave La Gomera and my companion. But I will go where the Lord knows I need to be and with whom I need to be!

I love you all! Have a good week!!
