Week 1 at the CCM (MTC)

Hola,

I love Guatemala. Es muy bonita. I am pretty much locked inside all day but today I got to go to the temple which was amazing. They gave us headphones so we could hear the session in English which was nice.. They don't do that often at the CCM so we usually have no idea what anyone is saying... hahahaha. My pday en the CCM is on monday or tuesday, it just depends on the week.

So there was no one at the Guatemala CCM for 2 weeks and then we arrived! So we pretty much started a new generation of missionaries here at the CCM. The CCM es the MTC in Spanish. There are about 85 missionaries here right now, and only 9 of us are from america and speak english. hahaha. the rest are latinas y latinos. so we are forced to speak spanish. Our maestros speak some english, but they only speak to us in spanish and sometimes we all get confused because they don't know what we are saying or asking in english.. Hahaha. It is very funny. We sit by the latina hermanas when we eat and it is very funny because we are supposed to talk to them and we only know a little bit so far. So it's like the same conversation every meal and we mess up and everyone laughs and it is just really funny! I really can't wait until I can speak spanish a little better. I am so bad... Hahaha. But I know that with hard work, faith, and patience, the Lord will help me. And I will actually be able to understand the devotionals and sacrament meeting and everything else going on here! Hahaha. Mi compenera es Hermana Hill and she is so nice! She is from Heber. We get along very well! I speak a lot of spanglish. Sorry if I speak spanglish in this email, I am used to trying to speak it all day everyday so... hahaha. So some random words will be in spanish. Lo siento!!

I hope you are doing well and I hope you are happy! Be happy! Choose to be happy! Sometimes it is hard to make that choice but if you look for the positive things in life you can always find them. Focus on them. And it will make your life much better y happier.

Something I have memorized in spanish is the purpose we have as missionaries. It is muy important to know. It says... And this is from memory so it if it wrong lo siento... Invitar a las personas a venir a Cristo al ayudarlas a que reciban el evangelio restaurado mediante la fe en jesucristo y su expiacion el arrepentimiente el bautismo la recepcion del don del espirtu santo y el perseverar hasta el fin! Look it up in English and read it! It should be our purpose even when we are not full time missionaries! Invite others to become closer to Christ. you can do this just by the way you act towards others and by the example you are to them.

I love you so much! Be happy and I will talk to you next week. I should have a little more time next week! Te amo!!!

Love,
Hermana Dibb

p.s. I also don't know how to do smiley faces because I am typing on a spanish keyboard and it is confusing... So I would have put a lot of those in the email! Know that I am happy and loving the CCM. It is hard, but I love it!! Te amo!
